Math - Last week, we started our new unit in which we revisited multiplication and division. We worked on multi-step word problems. Our problems focused on the 3, 6, and 9 facts. Next week, we will continue working on multi-step word problems, focusing on the 7 facts. We will continue to work on identifying key words that help us decide whether we should multiply or divide when solving word problems. We will also learn how to solve 2-digit x 1-digit problems and work on multiplication and division function tables.
Reading - Last week, we spent time identifying cause and effect relationships in texts, as well as making inferences as we read. Next week, we will be revisiting using text evidence to make predictions, summarizing, and using context clues to figure out unknown words.
Writing - Last week, we finished our country research for our brochures. We also began putting all of our information into paragraphs. Next week, we will continue to write our paragraphs as well as revise and edit.
Science - Last week, we began our unit on weather. We learned about tools that are used to measure temperature, precipitation, wind speed and wind direction. We also started to collect weather data for four different U.S. cities. Next week, we will work on measuring temperature (how temperature is read), as well as analyze the weather data that we have collected
Social Studies - Last week, we worked on reading maps and used a compass rose to follow directions on a map. Next week, students will have an opportunity to create their own maps.
