Math - Last week, we continued to study the attributes of 2D and 3D shapes. Students also began to learn strategies to find the area of rectangles. This week, we will continue to find the area of rectangles. We will focus on finding the area of composite shapes (a shape that can be divided into two or more rectangles) as well as area word problems.
Reading - Last week, we continued to read fables and identify the theme of a story. We also learned the elements of drama and used Reader’s Theater to understand the importance of fluent and expressive reading. This week, we will work on our informational text reading comprehension. We will be identifying the main idea and details of an informational text.
Writing - Last week, we finished publishing our Pourquoi stories. This week, we will begin a new unit on Informational Writing. Students will have an opportunity to brainstorm countries they are interested in and choose a country to research.

This week, we will continue to study space. We will focus on the asteroid belt, review the order of the planets, and build a model of the Earth, Sun, and Moon.
