Reading - Last week we focused on Cause and Effect. We identified and discussed various cause and effect relationships through stories read aloud to the class, comprehension activities, as well as independent reading. This week, we are focusing on Comparing and Contrasting characters and topics through reading various texts. We will discuss the different ways we can organize information when we compare and contrast.
Writing - We have been working hard on our personal narratives. Students have already decided on the topic of their personal narratives. Last week, they used a graphic organizer to plot out the beginning, middle, and end. They also began to explore different ways to “hook” their reader. This week, students will continue to work on the leads for their personal narratives. They will also practice the strategy of “Show, Don’t Tell”, so readers can better picture the setting of their story and understand how they were feeling.
Science - This week, we are beginning our unit on Energy. We will explore sound energy and light energy through hands on experiments.
Social Studies - This week, we will be completing our unit on government.
